We Are Here
‘We
Are Here!’ was an
Exhibition of photographs running from September 20th
to November 26th 2011,
(Launch
and
Press night on September 23rd).
The theme of the exhibition was
that of being ‘visible’.
Our
older generation, particularly those who live in Residential and
Nursing Homes; also those living alone, who may or may not have
access to Day Services; are often viewed by our society as invisible,
shut away. Out of sight, out of mind, as the saying goes.
‘We
Are Here’ aimed to prove this simply was not true!
Contributors
to this exhibition were all Service Users/Residents from Bristol,
Ascot and Chatham.
The
photographs are not intended to be great works of art; rather, they
impart wit, energy, zest for life, and fun.
The
images also demonstrate how the Services involved help to create an
environment which enables and empowers people to make choices for
themselves.
This
event was co-supported by Sarah Thomas (who played Glenda in 'Last Of
The Summer Wine).
Donations
received were given to the Alzheimer’s Society.
